Social facts

Why use social data?

A school is a highly dynamic community. Generations of students pass by every year, students themselves are constantly growing and developing competences, skills and most important: their own identity. Students shape their values around issues our society is facing. To help you make your school more energy efficient, you first need to learn who your school community is and what choices your community is ready to adopt. Choices that represent your community are choices that will have a positive and long-term impact.

What social data?

Greengage offers you and your school diverse ways to share opinions, experiences and preferences around energy and comfort. The idea is that the more you share and compare your views with others, the more you learn to make decisions that represent your community. In the form of questions and answers Greengage invites you to learn about you, others, and energy. These questions and answers are connected to different areas of learning: knowledge, collaboration, and action. They are:

Like?: What are your school community’s preferences around comfort and energy use?

How does social data come back in Greengage?

A web-based interactive interface runs on tablets or similar interactive screens. It is suggested to have designated tablets in the measured areas at the school. Table-based and standalone Greenpoints are designed to host the designated tablets and indoor climate sensors in one mobile unit.

Like technical data, Greengage defines the four seasons as the unit to provide feedback on the progress of participation in Q&As. A school gains points every time a question is answered. Seasonal points accumulate the answers given in a season. This point system allows your school to participate in a school league and compare how energy smarter your school is.
